October Blog: Skins, Emotes, New Relics, and Access Updates

Greetings, Leaders! We are only a few weeks away from the final phase of closed beta. As a thank you for your support, when it begins we will be sending invites to the rest of our Kickstarter backers (this includes the Disco & Thanks you Tiers).

Now lets talk about what we have been doing the last few months.
- Officially 1000+ matches have been played!
- Added 6 new Leaders
- Added 21 new Relics
- Tons of new UI
- Many quality of life updates
Ready Button
When creating a custom lobby to play with friends you can now enable a Ready button so everyone can play at their own pace!
Leftover Gold
Got a little gold left in the coffers? Having 1 or 2 gold leftover will now go towards lowering your shop and leader upgrade costs. This quality of life change has been a huge hit with our testers.
Match History
Now you have proof that you won that one game with that one leader. Check out the new match history section in your profile.

Harambe
The one and only. You gain bananas in your shop, which can be purchased and consumed as permanent stats to your units.
Beethoven
When you activate this musical genius’ power, you have a chance of transforming the relics in there with instruments that can provide you with upgrades to your relics or increase your gold for the next round. I personally love purchasing the Piano for 10 gold.
Mary Shelly
As the author of Frankenstein, it comes as no shock that you can create Frankenstein’s Monster with her power. It takes two heroes and combines them into a monstrosity that can have a 5th relic slot if fully upgraded.
Lagertha
Don’t let her looks fool you, this Viking warrior is fearsome on the battlefield. The unit you select will have dramatically increased attack speed based on how much damage they have taken in the round. This incentivizes up-close and personal combat!
Rasputin
This crazy motherfucker will literally kill your own teammates in order to increase the stats of the selected unit. Feels very fitting with real-life lore.
Persian Cat
A literal cat that will stun enemies with its fearsome claws. Works great with Persian Carpet, what a coincidence!
Riot Shield
A very basic ability that gives tankiness, but if upgraded can call a SWAT team that provides a Sniper that will deal massive damage to random enemies.
Titanic
The infamous ship makes its debut in Relic Arena and does damage and stuns in a big area while making your lineup tankier. Sound familiar? A super upgrade lets your team ride in with the ship!
Mortar
Another relatively simple relic that will shoot a mortar into the sky and when it comes back down will deal damage and lower the target's armor. The Juicy gives you a big boy Titan summon that automatically shoots stronger mortars.
Performance Enhancing Drug (P.E.D.)
In our world this is very legal! P.E.D. acts as a simple relic that provides a crazy amount of attack speed to the wielder. The Juicy will allow you to steal stats from the enemy.

Leader Skins
Now you can equip skins for your Leaders, including the likes of Zombie Abraham Lincoln, Dracula Vlad the Impaler, and Nuclear Gandhi. And you know we couldn’t implement this system without making an Anime Cleopatra skin.
Leader Animations
On top of that, we are just starting to implement voice lines with special animations for the Leaders. Now you can chat wheel with extra emphasis!
Hero Skins
We now have hero skins for all the models, including a Mongol Archer Ranger, Native American Witch and a Gorilla Tank!
Arenas
We’ve added 6 new Arenas to help keep variety including locations like the Red Wood Forest, Philippine Rice Terrace and Great Wall of China.
Emote System
We also have an emote system that allows you to display the many different emotions you feel throughout a typical game.
Visual FX
We’ve added Win streaks to the game and have implemented even more Click FX and Finishers!

With the final phase of Closed Beta coming soon, what are we prioritizing and what is our current time table?
- Onboarding/New Player Experience
- Progression
- Polish
- Our main focus in the coming weeks is making sure we can grab a new player's attention and teach them enough basics of the game to get them started. We have a tutorial in the game right now, but we want to introduce beginner challenges so players can get a better feel for more relics before they enter an actual game.
- Another big emphasis is something every successful game attempts, and that is making sure you have something to entice you to keep playing. Whether it be Leader experience or tokens to unlock other Leaders, or gold coins to get a cool cosmetic. These may sound basic, but it requires a lot of backend and frontend developer work and we are well under way.
- This goes without saying, but we want the game to be at a better state in terms of polish. We still have a lot of placeholder effects (we tend to use a really shitty horse model a lot of the time) that we need to finish, but we also need to keep the visual clarity of the game in mind. These games can be very chaotic, which is part of the fun, but polishing up some of the loose ends will certainly help.
